Water-Drop Photo GalleryWater-Drop Photo Gallery

Continuing on with my next photograpy venture, I have jumped into water-drop photography. This a technique where a water drop falls into a liquid creating a splash column. When the flash column has reached it's peak, another drop that was dropped and timed to collide with the first drop at it's splash-column peak. At the split second of the collsion, a flash or a number of flashes are fired at 1/20,000 per second or a faster time to capture this drop collision.

Lockdown Photo GalleryLockdown Photo Gallery

This gallery contains a number of photos taken indoors during the coronavirus pandemic. Most of the photos were taken using a technique called focus-stacking. This technique allows a photo to be created by adding many photos of the subject taken at different focal points. This allows the complete image to be in focus. Up to fifty images were required to create a single image that is in total focus.

Soap-Bubble Photo GallerySoap-Bubble Photo Gallery

A soap bubble is an extremely thin film of soapy water enclosing air that forms a hollow sphere with an iridescent surface. Soap bubbles usually last for only a few seconds before bursting, either on their own or on contact with another object. When light shines onto a bubble it appears to change color. Unlike those seen in a rainbow, which arise from differential refraction, the colors seen in a soap bubble arise from interference of light reflecting off the front and back surfaces of the thin soap film. Depending on the thickness of the film, different colors interfere constructively and destructively.

Chromakey Examples GalleryChromakey Photo Gallery

Chromakey compositing is a technique for layering two images together. The top layer is shot against a green or blue background and when processed, the background color is removed, revealing another image behind. The models in this section were photgraphed against a green background and then the green background was subsequently replaced with a stock background.

High Dynamic Range GalleryHigh Dynamic Range Gallery

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a post-processing task of taking a series of images, combining them and adjusting the contrast ratios to do things that are virtually impossible with a single aperture and shutter speed.

An HDR image is commonly made by taking three, five, or seven photos of the same scene, each at different shutter speeds providing a series of photos that are bright, medium, and dark based on the shutter speed of the lens. A software process then combines all the photos to bring details to both the shadows and highlights. This helps to achieve the same task in the final photograph that the human eye can accomplish on the scene.

Brugge, BelgiumBrugge, Belgium - May 2002
Brugge is called: 'The Venice of the North'. This splendid medieval city is one of Belgium's crown jewels. In no other European city the feel and the look of medieval times are so present as here in this city near the North Sea. Brugge is unique, in the sense that here the town authorities have done the utmost to preserve the medieval-looking image of the city and the combination of old, not so old, and new fascinates everyone who first sets foot in Brugge.

I hope to take at least one photo trip a year and who knows what distant lands lie ahead.
